thread238-302523

by referring to the above thread, reply from rcwilson which stated that

"the cross section area of the screen (shield) material to determine its resistance? That's just circumference x thickness"

which standard to refer. please help

That answer was 8 years ago, at my age I can't remember that far back. I was just pointing out simple geometry.

The cross sectional area of a cylinder is the circumference x the thickness. Area x length x resistivity = resistance. A spiral wrapped flat tape can be modeled as a cylinder with an appropriate assumption for the difference between a solid copper cylinder and one composed of two layers of copper tape with some contact resistance between the layers.

Best solution is to ask the cable supplier. Check Okonite's web site for some good technical discussion.

etb90, we are going in circles without getting your satisfied.

What is the available SLG short circuit too low in your application? If the amount of cable is not too large, consider using URD cable with concentric neutral wire 1/3 or full rated for 3 phase or single phase application respectively.

As RWilson said, call any cable manufacturer and let us know the results.
