Are there any MMCs in production? 1

We are researching advanced materials for a feasability study. A while back, there seemed to be great promise in metal matrix composites. Now, I can find almost nothing. what happened?

Specifically, our application could include the following:

-pressure vessels for very high external pressures (~20" diameter, 15 feet long and ~50" in diameter, 8 feet long)

-frame for a 20 ton vehicle

-materials with high compressive strength and extremely high young's modulus
