Are there any characters in Naming conventions we must avoid for parts in Teamcenter

Hi,

Are there any characters we need to avoid in the naming conventions for naming a part in Teamcenter? If we export NX files out to Native and import them into Teamcenter, what are the characters we need to avoid so that the program does not break?

I wish ALL people had a history running Unix computers. Yes, Seriously.
We have items in Teamcenter, with * in the item id.
-i wonder if the person who created those items have ever searched files...
Similarly there are quite a number of characters to try avoid, such as #¤%&!"+?[{}]\/ ( Yes we have those too in our item id's...)
Why? because we humans do not expect to find an item id "123#4.5*" , and these characters makes it quite difficult to search for.
also a " "( space) can sometimes make your life more difficult. n ( in Unix "abc def.prt" is 2 files.)

Also , do an export from Teamcenter and see what / how the revision gets included in the file name in windows. ( i guess this can be differently depending on your set up )
maybe that character should be avoided to ease your life.

Note, Teamcenter does not crash on this. it's us, the people, that has the problems...

If you have a good Teamcenter Administrator in your company, he/she will have configured Teamcenter in such a way that special Characters aren't even allowed.
Apparently, the company where Toost is working doesn't have this configured.

UNIX allowed the backspace as a valid character in a filename. Good luck figuring that one out without reading. Also the "bell" character for those who wanted a little tone during ls.

we were too late implementing these rules,
we did not have the imagination that people would ...

I do not remember the backspace nor the bell.
i have heard about a guy who believed he had a number of "backspaces" in his password ...

Hi All,

I think this is the list or set i was looking for . If we disallow in BMIDE settings for Item name and Item rev name..This should solve the issues we see when trying to export parts outside of Teamcenter or importing them back to Teamcenter.
