As I read it, the 3rd Edition contains significant geotechnical revisions to establish Em and Ym values.

Are "old" 2nd ed. PTI design values of Em & Ym, as determined prior to the 3rd edition PTI Manual procedures valid?

My experience comparing the results of several current slab configurations to foundations already designed based on the 2nd Edition indicates that most of the slabs that passed under the 2nd Edition are now "inadequate" under the 3rd Edition.

Also, does anyone know what was the specific reason for the procedural change? Failing slabs? Using 3rd ed. methods most of my PTI foundations will likely fail.

I have consistently found that previous foundation designs that passed based on the 2nd Edition guidelines, now must be more sizable in order to comply with the structural provisions of the 3rd Edition, using the same Em and Ym values given prior to the the 3rd Edition guidelines.
