Arc smoothness

Hi,

Since moving up to SE20 I have found that I can not get arcs to display smoothly in a model. I have the "Sharpness" setting at 5, yet the display of a curved item displays as lines.

I have the same issue on my office machine, which uses a high end nVidia Quadro FX card, so I don't think it is the video card.

Prior versions of SE always displayed smooth edges on arcs. Any suggestions?

Hi

I never experienced this but have a look in the option menu, under the tab "View" at the top right of the window, there is an option for arc smoothness maybe it's what you are looking for!

I did try that, same results.

The rough arcs make it very challenging to work!

Here is a screen shot of what the arcs look like. All items here should have a smooth curve to them. Prior to SE20 I could easily display very smooth arcs on models. No idea what has changed.

I am getting these results on two different machines.

Hi,

could you model a small piece like you've done it in your
model that will show that behaviour and post it? We can
then check it whether it's a V20 problem or not.
In the meantime you can try this:
In Tools --> Options --> View
- set Applications Display to
- Graphics Card Driven (Basic)
- Backing Store
- Software driven
in that order and see whether one setting will show nearly
smooth arcs
When you've set the pulldown to 'Backing Store' or even as low
as 'Software driven' for sure it's a driver problem
BTW: which patch level are your running? SP13 is the newest
one

In ST V1 Traditional if you will open up a traditional ANSI file, then go to the SE icon in the upper left corner. Click it and when it opens go to "Solid Edge Options". When the options menu opens go to to "view". In the upper right corner is a setting for arc smoothness which if you apply to a template and save this will give you smooth arcs in the future. I am assuming of course that this options selection is available in V20. Anyway worth a try and good luck.
