I have a question for arc-resistant switchgear manufacturers. Does an arc-resistant switchgear need to be replaced if an internal fault happens inside, or can it be repaired and returned to service?
Considering there is no way ( without testing ) of certifying the suitability of the switchgear as arc-resistant after an internal fault happened.

That is a good question. Have you asked your manufacturer? Your insurance carrier? These would be the people who need to stand behind the repairs, as they have a risk if it is not repaired correctly. Or if you are doing the repairs you would need to stand behind it.

It depends on the extent of the damage. Contact only the OEM for advice. Only the OEM has the technical details to put it back to the Type tested design. Refrain from opinions from any third parties or contractors.

.
It is NOT practical to (destructive) test on every Internal Arc Classified (IAC) switch gear. The OEM self declares the gear is IAC that is constructed following the Type tested design.
