Hello All,
I am installing three 40,000 gallon 19% aqueous ammonia storage tanks in a cold weather application where the minimum ambient temperature is -30 deg F. I am trying to determine if and at what temperature the tank needs to be maintained. Are there any concerns of freezing since it is only a 19% solution?

All help is much appreciated.

Some good information here. 19% ammonia appears to have a freezing point of -30F so you are on the cusp, especially if the solution is weaker. I'd decide what range of ammonia I want to be able to handle and then provide some heating, you won't need a lot. Another option is to use a higher concentration if that's acceptable and doesn't trigger any increased regulatory requirements/reporting, etc.
