Hi guys sorry to ask such a basic question. But i seem to be getting rubbish answers with a basic cantilever beam.

Units are mmkg/sec^2. So if i want to apply a point load
of 1000 kg In say thw Y axis is this correct. i
should i be using N. My model units are also
in mm kg sec.

What kind of elements are you using? Point loads should only be used on beam models. Point loads on shells and solids can result in singularities (finite load divided by zero area = infinite stresses).

Hi jab, i am using solids elements. To get a feel for what was going on i applied a load of 1000kg to the edge of a cantilever.
