What are the benefits of using anti-fouling coating for a compressor rotor & diaphragm for a charge gas compressor of an ethylene cracker plant?

The benefits are considerable. From personal experience I can say that you can double or triple the run lengths between cleaning shutdowns, especialy if used in conjunction with on line cleaning using a wash oil. Water can also be used but I dont have any experience of that.
There are at least 2 types of coating you can use, both equaly sffective. Best results are obtained if you apply the coating to new equipment.

Thanks geordie87. The Charge Gas Compressor have wash oil injection and water injection. Our option is to apply HiCoat A24 material developed by Sulzer, the other one is Electroless Nickel Plate technology by Elliot Ebara for rotor and diaphragms. This is new equipment for our ongoing project. Do you have experience on these coating technologies?

The Elliott coatings work very well. No signs of the coating wearing off after a 5 year run. dont know about the Sulzer coating.
Where on the compressor do you use water injection?

Hi Geordie87
The water injection is injected on the compressor impeller right after the first stage. Glad to hear that EETC coating technology works well on your compressor. This is a big help on our selection of coating technology on our compressor.
