According to ASME B31.4 "Scraper traps are to be installed as deemed necessary for good operations. All pipe, valves, fittings, closures, and appurtenances shall comply with appropriate sections of this Code".
Is there any similar indication on the applicable code for gas pipeline? I didn't find any reference within ASME B31.8 for the code to be used in case of pig traps connecting gas pipeline.

thanks

Maybe not as explicitly as 31.4, but there are plenty of references to piping and fittings to be designed according to the code

B31.8 is used to define the appropriate design factor of 0.6, or 0.4 if in a very high population area, or 0.5 within a compressor station, or 0.4 if within a compressor station that is within a high population area.

B31.8 requires that pig traps and launchers have an ASME BVP VIII stamp on only quick opening closures. B31.4 I think still does not require the ASME stamp. You should specify a pressure lock be included on the closures which will prevent opening when pressurized.
