I am not in the petroleum industry, but I do work with a fair amount of hardware in classified hazardous locations. I am working with an enclosure that requires ventilation but I do not have a standard for the flow rates and opening dimensions which would be sufficient. I have been told in another forum to check out section 4.6 of API RP500. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any sort of online preview or download to determine if this RP will fullfill my needs. Can anyone post this section here for me, or direct me to a site that will allow me to preview the document? I am not looking for a handout I just don't want to waste my company's money on a standard that doesn't actually help us out.

"Pumping accounts for 20% of the world’s energy used by electric motors and 25-50% of the total electrical energy usage in certain industrial facilities."-DOE statistic (Note: Make that 99% for pipeline companies)

You are not indicating what the enclosure is to be used for? However, for ventilation of classified areas NFPA 30 or OSHA 1910 genereal industry standard has published flow rates for flammable and combustible storage areas. Other NFPA's for painting booths, commercial cooking facilties as wall as OSHA 1910 has additional infromation. Industrial Hygiene material also has info. dealing with contaminants levels and make air requiremnts.
