Anyone here familiar with 8C and or FEM 1.001?
8C references FEM for fatigue analysis method.
Problem is I'm getting an overly conservative FoS.
I have a high number of cycles (>>2m), a small portion of which is high load, the majority low load. FEM allows for this with a fatigue spectrum, but the spectrum has no effect for high cycle applications when following their formulas.
Result is the same FoS for full load for 100% of the cycles, compared to FoS for full load for 1% cycles, 10% load for 99% cycles.
I'd like to apply cumulative damage (or similar) to the FEM method. Has anyone done this? Or have any resources that would help? Thanks much.
