API 650, Shell Design

Dear All,

for API 650 storage tank, Bottom shell Course material is A36 & For Shell course no. 2 (From bottom) material is S275JR, So my question is it possible to arrange this mode??? or same shell material shall be use for whole shell course?? Please advice.

It is allowed (and not uncommon) to use different grades of steel for different courses in order to achieve maximum economy. Usually, this will be on larger tanks where higher grade steels are used on the lower rings, and lower grades on the upper rings.
