Gentlemen being structural engineers you may not be that close to compressor engineering, but the question is related to civil/structural engineering:

figures 1.3-1 to 4 are four methods of mounting cen. compressors and associated equipment such as gear-boxes and electric motor drivers

two questions

1. what actually is the difference in these four methods structurally?

2. which, in your opinion, is the correct one to mount a 10,000 HP centrifugal compressorat at 8000 RPM with a gear-box and electric motor driver?

All these methods are pretty much identical structurally. They differ in the ways the machinery is leveled. And it looks like that the whoever manufacturers the baseplate makes the choice on the method.
As a side note, the sketches indicate a kind of old fashioned bolt-in-a-sleeve detail which has limited adjustability. It also poses difficulty when lowering the equipment over the bolts. I prefer a Deco (

bolt, but that's just me.
