API 5000 - What does it refer to? 1

Hello.

Does anyone know what API 5000 refers to?

I cant seem to find it. But someone insists that it exists to valve related issues.

Kind help is much appreciated.

There is no reference to a publication with the number 5000 in the 2003 API catalog of publications. See for youself at

API 5000, 10000 are used in reference to wellhead 'christmas tree' pressure ratings as well used for the wing valve, master valve ratings. There may be higher classes as well.

Unfortunately, I don't have any references or information to point you to a specific URL. I'd suggest you contact someone in the oil production side of things (Halliburton for example) and ask them for a lead to talk to.
