I was evaluating a components as per API17G global criteria, I have seen that the principal total strain is exceeding 2% at factored loads.
But the strains are distributed over a small area.
I have a query now, whether the component is failing as per API17G global criteria or not?
Else can we take an average strain over a area and say it is passing? If this is OK, what will be the area to be considered for the averaging?
