API 1104 requirement

I don't have copy of API 1104.does the procedure & welder qualification of API 1104 is similar to that of ASME sec IX.
or what extra i will need to do for qualify a PQR as per API 1104

I heard that as per API 1104 procedure qualification is allowed only on pipe samples & welder qualification is done by destructive test only. is it true? what about branch welding? how the qualification is done?
Can anybody help?
