I specified APA rated sheathing for shear walls on one of my projects. The contractor is requesting approval to substitute TECO graded sheathing. I am not familiar with TECO rated sheathing and wonder if it is considered an equivalent to APA? I am currently researching TECO and would appreciate anyone's comments.

I am pretty sure you are OK. If I remember correctly, it is all about economics regarding where the manufacturer gets his certification from. Just need to make sure its an equivalent grade.

You'll be fine.

Both companies (APA & TECO) simply verify the plywood mill produces sheets that comply with PS-1 which is a voluntary product standard for plywood, while PS-2 is the voluntary standard for Oriented Strand Board (OSB).
