I am designing a steel trellis and was instructed by our principal engineer to use ASCE 7 Chapter 13 to determine the seismic loads. I am looking at Table 13.5-1 (Coefficients for Architectural components), but I am not sure what I should be using for ap and Rp. It doesnt seem like any of the categories apply. Somebody please help?

Should fall under chapter 12 or 15, cantilever column. If you want to use ch 13, you would fall under section 13.1.5, Rp is equal to the R listed in ch 15 and an ap from footnote a of table 13.5-1

A trellis is not necessarily a freestanding structure. If it is supported on two ends (simply supported) similar to a ceiling or interior partition, I would use ap=1.5 and Rp=2.5. If it cantilevers, I would use ap = 2.5 and Rp = 2.5 (like cantilever interior nonstructural walls).
