I have this just about in every x64 SolidWorks version (currently SW2007 SP1.1 x64), anyone know how to 'fix' it?
(re-install of OS doesn't help, and yes I have the certified driver for my graphics card ;-) )

Is that the Task Bar you're showing?

What opens/happens if you Restore or Maximize it?

Yes, it is the taskbar, the button does nothing when left clicked, but on a right click the regular menu appears, with only the close button enabled. The close button closes solidworks completely. It seems to appear when using pdmworks, but I'm not sure of that.

If you open the Task Scheduler, can you see what processes are closed when you close the ghost tab? Taking a screenshot before and after will help.

Tried that, seems to be happening when opening soms pdmworks files, not all.

As you can see, no differences in the processes list when the tab appears.

When closing the tab exactly the same happens as when I would have clicked close on the actual SW tab.

What "description" appears when you hover the cursor over the ghost tab?

The only time I know of where SW displays a folder in the task bar is when updating, but the folder is usally titled Updating. Maybe x64 has a bug that keeps this folder visible. Just a thought

I have a copy of process explorer laying around, I'll have a look and report back tomorrow. (too bad that handy program never made it to my nlite xp x64 dvd!)
