What is the tolerance on wall thickness and OD for Schedule 40s pipe (stainless steel)?

Tolerance depends upon the manufacturing method and specifications governing the same. B36.19M does not specify any tolerances.

Thanks for information C2it.
I have to fit a part into a 2" BSP pipe Schedule 40s. I know the nominal wall thickness and OD but no idea what the tolerances are so cannot determine the minimum id of the pipe. I have no access to the 2" BSP pipe to measure it.
If I new what the tolerances were I could calculate minimum id. Don't what to give too large a margin for error or the part will end up being a very loose fit.

Are you trying to fit a machined (round) part inside the (not-really-round) pipe inside "diameter" hole?

What are you allowing for the weld distortion of the pipe?

ASME is mandating a -12.5% tolerance on the pressure pipe wall thickness, for strength calculations and that's what the manufacturers are working with. This -12.5% applies for all wall thicknesses.

In general for this pipe size you could see OD +/-0.031" and a wall of +20%/-12.5% from nominal.
You can usually supply the heavier schedule (80 in place of 40) and not violate the tolerance
