Another problem with Smart Fasteners

I have another problem with Smart Fasteners (SF) - it's not proving to be a very user-friendly tool.

I have four instances of a component in an assembly. I am trying to use SF for one particular instance. When I select the 2 holes in that particular instance and use SF, to my utter surprise, I get only 1 fastener and that too in the wrong instance (the original instance) of the component!!!! Any suggestions on why this is happening?
