As a new user of CFD I'm trying to model the flow of water down a pipe that is inserted into a larger pipe, blocked off at one end, so that the outflow is through the annular region that is formed by the internal and external pipe. When I look at the results from the axisymmetric model in the outflow region I find that the flow is predominantly to the outer radial surface but the flow adjacent to the inner pipe (in the outflow region) runs counter to that flow like so:

Inlet--->>>> --->>>> --->>> / / !
-.-.-.-.-.-..-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-..-.-.-.! Symmetry
This seems illogical to me as the outlet region is specified as such and not as an open boundary. Is there an obvious error?
