Can we check "Anchor block(deadman)" sliding capacity/m length by any of the following procedure?
-Depth of block below grade=H
-ht. of block=h
-soil depth above top of block=H-h
Method 1:
1. Check the passive pressure for height "h" of anchor block(triangular distribution- '0.5*Kp*gamma*h²').
2. Treat the soil above the block (H-h) as surcharge (rectangular distribution-"Kp*gamma*(H-h)*h") and add this to the above to get the total resistance.
Method2:
Same procedure as for "designing Anchor wall/slab behind sheet pile".
Which will be a better method?
Thanks,
