I have a 3/8" plate that is span over a 26'x6' area and is supported every 4'3". The circumference is welded. I have a uniform load for the area at 2,200 lbs/ft or a 515 lbs/ft^2 and I also have a point load that is 4,985 lbs (there are two of them at 3' apart)

How do I go about analysis a plate for moment shear and deflection?

The formulas would really help and how the K or C factors are found.

Try 'moments & reactions for rectangular plates' by W T Moody, A Water Resources Technical publication - Engineering Monograph 27 (my copy is dated 1970 so it may be out of print).

This gives 5 different edge conditions with 10 different combinations of loads.

Edge conditions such as 3 edges fixed & one free, 4 edges fixed etc etc.

Loading charts include uniform loading for 1/3, 2/3 & full depth, water loading 1/3, 2/3 & full depth, etc.

Derivation is included but the charts give all the info req'd.

Charts are given for a/b from 1/8 to 3/2 (a is semi width & b is depth). Cantilever moments & beam moments are given for each 20% of height & width, as well as reactions.

This monograph was produced by the USBR & may still be available from them. Check with their office (Denver Colo) or with the Superintendent of Documents, Gov't Printing Office, Washington DC (at least it was in 1970).

I have verified sections (with other methods) when I was involved with designing 10m deep conterfort retaining walls for a dam spillway.
