Hello everybody

please, I'd need some pieces of advice from you.
Following is the topic:

- is there any difference in corrosion resistance among the different aluminum alloys series 8000 ?

basically I would not expect any difference, nonetheless I was wondering if someone can help me and sharing his opinions, or his experience, concerning this topic.

many thanks !

I would expect large differences among the 8XXX series alloys since this is a catch-all group for aluminium alloy with "other" elements.

For example, 8021 used for aluminum foil can have 1.5 % Fe and lousy corrosion resistance. On the other hand, alloy 8090 has 2.5 % Li and is roughly equal or better to 7075 for general, exfoliation and SCC corrsion mechanisms.

Many thanks

Therefore is there any literature reference where I can find these differences ?
I googled it but I could not find

thanks in advance !

The ASM Handbook series will have some information.

You can do a scientific literature search (scholar.google.com) and find articles related to this topic.
