What would the strength of a very thin aluminum casting be?
In the range of 1/16th to 1/8th? Is it possible to temper cast Al.?
The casting would be in a flattened rod shape. Picture a vary small
tennis raquet. The question actually concerns fishing rod guide frames.
I think that any castings or shapes that are close to the current (and
attractive) frames would be too brittle and fragile to be feasible.
What about a composite resin such as G10 or carbon/kevlar? Any thoughts would be welcome.
