Not too long ago I supplied a machine to an ocean going ship and I have received some feedback that the aluminum handles on the control valves are not doing very well.
I used valves from a fairly well known mobile hydraulic valve manufacturer.
I spoke with the company and was informed that the handles were cast from A380 aluminum and that was the only material they offered.
Anodizing the 2 sets of parts would cost about 4X the value of the parts.
As the parts have machined pin and screw holes I'm concerned that paint or powder coating would interfere with clearance.
Can anyone suggest a cheap, do it yourself, thin coating that would increase the life of the aluminum past a couple of years?
Best regards, David
