Pretty funny chassis design, at least they won't need a suspension.
As to why they use a pair of V twins, a rational excuse would be that it gives them a short engine/transaxle combination if they are insistent on having a longitudinal gearbox. I'm not sure which FWD transmissions can handle 350 bhp, but that would seem to me to be a better approach.
but somehow I don't think that is the reason!
