allowable tremie seal to pile interface bond strength (cofferdam tremie seal)

Hello all,

I am looking for published information regarding allowable design values relating to the tremie seal to pile interface bond strength. I looked though all of my FHWA/NAVFAC stuff and could not find anything.

Can anyone be of assistance in providing some references?

I would be surprised if you found a reference for this bond. It could be very hard and/or expensive to assure that the sheet piling is clean enough to bond to the concrete.

Perhaps I misspoke. What I intended to day was reference to any frictional resistance at the interface between the tremie seal and the cofferdam. Typically, the cofferdam is sheeted. In this case, it is an ACIP cofferdam so I will have a concrete-concrete interface.

Maybe, but maybe not. I assume that there will be soil stuck to the perimeter of the piles or between the piles and the tremie concrete unless you somehow cleaned the piles before pouring the tremie seal.
