Ok, this is freaking me out.

I've got this part file in which I've made a whole bunch of external sketches, and used them in features. They have all disappeared from the pathfinder. If I go to Tools --> Show All --> Sketches (*), I can see them in the 3d model, but not in the pathfinder.

I've closed the file without saving then reopened it, closed SE and reopened it, rebooted, no luck.

What can I do to get the sketches to show in the pathfinder like they're supposed to???

Thanks for your help.

Norm

(* my SE copy is not in english, so I'm not sure what the exact menu terms are. I hope you can follow what I'm saying...)

I just created a new part, then created a sketch. Once done, the sketch is visible in the graphic window, but has no entry in the pathfinder. So it's not only the other file, somehow there's a "setting" somewhere now that hides all sketches.

Do I have any options apart from doing a complete reinstall?

I forgot to mention my SE version.

Hi,

hmm when this did work before SP8 you can either reinstall SE
or remove the last patch by using a restore point prior
to the patch. You try to delete the registry entry for SE
(loosing all your settings):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\Solid Edge\Version 20

and see whether this helps before grabbing for the 'hammer' ;-)

Restore, however will only work when no programs have been
removed/reinstalled and checkpointing is enabled for that
disc SE is installed.
Maybe SP8 is in error OTH this failure has not been reported
elsewhere.

I remember having bugs with Update 5 and being forced to revert back to Update 4 (doing full reinstall).

I always forget to use the restore feature... I'll try to delete the registry entry and see what happens.

Thanks for your tips, Don.

Deleted the registry entry, everything now back to normal.

Many thanks Don!!! :)

you are welcome.
SE, the registry and Windows ... Problems with some settings that
are kept in the registry have increased with V19 I think. It's
hard whom to blame for this SE or Windows or both.
When you have re-customized SE you may export the above mentioned
key to a safe place. When something gets malfunctioning later on
and you think it might be the registry then just delete the key
close regedit and restore it by double clicking on that saved key.
It is however not recommended to transfer this key to a different
computer or user. In no case use it to customize a new version.

Well I had some more problems, this time with planes, rather than sketches, disappearing from the pathfinder. I deleted the registry key twice but the bug kept coming back. So "I bit the bullet", grabbed my hammer and did a clean reinstall of Solid Edge.

I also applied the Update 9 (it seems it solves that annoying hole callout bug in draft), but I took care of creating a restore point first.

Thanks for the good advice Don, I'll also save my registry key when I've redone all my settings (again).

Don't know what's the culprit for this instability, though I suspect a Sycode add-in (demo version) for 3ds import which I installed last week. It was unusable, tried importing a model and after 30 minutes SE was still computing so I killed it.
