I have a construction site where the flanges of 3-5/8" metal studs need to be notched. AISI S200, Standard for Cold-Formed Steel Framing section B2.2 allows cutting and patching if using and "approved design" or an "approved design standard". Any suggestions on how to patch metal studs?

Are these load bearing studs? If not, you should be able to sister a full height stud to the stud which is notched.

@DaveAtkins, Thanks for responding.
These are a series of nonloadbearing studs - a low height wall approximately 10 feet long. I need to keep the 'notch' to allow electrical cable to pass through, so I can't sister a stud next to them.

Can you provide a picture of the notch made? Will help a lot more if we see what we are working with.
