AISI S100 Chapter F has criteria to evaluate cold formed steel testing to come up with an appropriate safety factor based on the data variability and the type of element tested. Anyone know if there is any thing like that for hot-rolled steel? I have a client who comes up with some unusual stuff and often shows me test data that I cannot explain via calculation, but I don't know how to come up with justifiable factors of safety to apply to the testing.
