Reviewing RFI from Steel Fabricator and they want to modify a column splice detail with moment capacity and they want to confirm that they can use "ASIC CASE VIII-E".
I am not familiar with this notation. Any help?
 
Look in the 15th ed. AISC Manual near the end of Part 14, Page 14-39.

Edit: turns out this figure is on the same page in the 14th ed. (red) Manual also.

In a nutshell, that's a CJP splice of the flanges and web. For equal depths, it seems like that would typically be approved.
