Air make-up for lab area 1

I have a room that our projects guys want to designate as an animal lab that I am concerned about. Right now it is slated to be cooled with a 3-ton split system with 100% recirc.

I know recirc is no good so how much outside air is required? I have found a Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals by the Institute of Laboratory Animal Resources that recommends 50% make-up air. I have also been told that single pass air is required. I looked through the ASHRAE guidelines and didn't find anything specific. Perhaps I looked in the wrong place. Can anyone provide me with some guide or at least tell me where to look?

See 2003 ASHRAE Applications Chapter 14, Page 14.14 Laboratory Animal Facilities. Recommended OA is 10 to 15 ACPH. Supply air is HEPA filtered. Exhaust may also be required to be HEPA filtered if it can not be located remote from the OA intakes.

Rather than using a percentagae of the Supply Air CFM to approximate the exhaust CFM, I would use the 10 - 15 ACPH (Air Changes per Hour) method listed by Liliput1.
