Hello Everyone

I'm working on assembly which has a bar attached at the top of two air cylinders. The air cylinders are 24.75" apart. My problem is that I can get the one air cylinder to move with the bar but, not the second one. SolidWorks states that the assembly is overmated if, I add a second mate for the bar to attach the second air cylinder. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong. Cheers.

I'm guessing that you have limit mates on each cylinder to limit the stroke. If the cylinders are subassemblies then one has to be in a configuration that has the limit mate suppressed. The limit mate, although it allows motion, is treated like a fully defining mate.

Thanks for the information, I never thought of that point. I will try that tomorrow when i get to work. Cheers.

If you want to be able to have both cylinders move with the bar, you'll need to create two floating configurations within the cylinder assembly ('float1' and 'float2'). Bring one of each into your upper assembly; then you'll be able to mate them properly to the bar and they'll move with the bar.
Unless this has changed, you couldn't bring in two instances of the same floating configuration and have them move normally, even if they're moving the same direction/distance.
