Hi All,

So I just bought a new CAD station for my home.

Intel Dual Core,
2 x 500GB Hd
4Gb RAM
128Mb ATI FireGL 5100 Graphics Card
Windows XP Professional x64
Solidworks 2007 Professional x64
22" Samsung Synchmaster

My question now is. Why did I spend $500 on a "CAD Video Card" When my gaming card in my old Dell XPS laptop (a 2 year old Nvidia GeForce Go 6800) Runs SWorks better than my new system. I wanted to get the 5200 (256MB Video Ram) But there was a two week wait for it from my dealer, and I was on a deadline.

Are there known issues with 64bit SW, or ATI Cards running under this setup? Is there a benchmark I can run for SW 07 to test my card? Or do I need to buy another seat of 32bit XP Professional?

I mean if I'm only sacrificing support for Realview graphics why shouldn't I get a 512Mb Gaming card for $350?

Thanks for any input.
