Aerogel Applications in Water Purification

I read an article recently in a News/Business Mag that identified a process using Aerogel with an electric current applied to puriy (desalinate I believe)water. I am interested in any info about this type of application for possible use in other waste water purification processes. Does anyone know of such apps?
