Hi, I am not sure if i post at the right forum. I am intending to purchase a UV-Vis spectrophotometer for absorption, transmission and reflection testing. May I know which brand of the equipment is recommended? I am particularly concern with high resolution features and low noise background.

I come across a brand called "Mc pherson", any idea if it is a good brand?

Hope to hear from all of you soon!

Some brand names are Perkin-Elmer, Agilent (spun off from Hewlett-Packard), Beckman (now Beckman Coulter), Hitachi, Shimadzu, & Varian. Hach sells small stuff, used mostly for water analyses.

I scanned through the spectrophotometer listings at LabX & got to the 7th page before encountering McPherson (a Fluorescence Spectrophotometer).

Check out the companies websites for support, publications, etc. Probably best to go with a global company that's been around a long time -- helps when needing parts or service.
