Is it possible / wise to adjust the preload of a linear slide (type MGN12) by choice of grease?

If so, any tips how to go about this?

i would not think so. the preload will be defined by the weight of the slide when mounted horizontally and that will not change by a grease or any other lubricant. what you can change however with a lubricant is the amount of friction that needs to be overcome when moving the slide.
