Adding Strainer

Guys I need some advice, as I posted here before about frequent fouling of our pre heat exchanger. base on my survey it turns out that adding strainer will be good enough. Im thinking of buying a bucket type strainers for upstream of Plate type heat exchanger. What are the possible problems I might face in future after installing this. At present exchanger is in bypass mode. A good advice plesae

some plate heat exchangers have build in buckets (behind flanges opposite of pipe connections)
an upstream filter wouldn't harm, i guess...
 
Use a duplex strainer, so you can shut one down for maintenance and open up the other to continue operation.
