Add Automatic Attribute Annotations to an existing drawing template

We are using Teamcenter 8.3 and NX 7.5.4.4 and we are using the mastermodel approach.
I have all the templates created and imported into Tc. I now find that I have to add some more attributes to the drawing templates. Since we already have the templates how can I add the object attribute from the part if I already saved the drawing template? I know that if this was new I would make a "dummy" part with all the attributes defined. Then I would create the drawing template associated with the dummy part. In the text editor, under relationships I would pick "insert object attribute" pick the "dummy" part, find the attribute I want and insert it where I want it.
My question is how can I do that to an existing drawing template? How can I "reattach" or associate the drawing template to a "dummy" part again so I can make the new attributes. I don't want to make all of them outside Tc and import all of them again.

You should be able to update it as if you were working in native. If the template is released or locked, you will have to work with a teamcenter administrator to get the required permissions.

You are correct but I see that I didn't make myself clear enough. What I was wanting was to reattach the drawing template to a new "dummy" model with additional attributes derived from expressions so I could pass those attributes into the drawing template. I think the only way I can add these new attributes into the drawing template is to open the drawing template, go to Assemblies-->Components-->Add Component. But that leaves the dummy part as the master. I was looking for a way to do the same thing without leaving the dummy part as the master.

dummy part as the master
Are you referring to the "master" modeling approach?

Technically, the glass is always full.

OK, I read further back and see that is indeed what you are ferring to.

Technically, the glass is always full.

Yes, we use the "master modeler" for all our NX drawings so I apologize for using the term "master" incorrectly.

If these attributes in the master part file are Part Attributes they will automatically be added as Object Attributes to the Component in the Drawing (assembly) file.

Now when you create you Drawing Template include some simple part file as a 'place holder' Component. Make sure that this place-holder part has all of the same NAMED attributes as you will be expecting to link up to in the final Drawing file (the Values of the attributes are not important). Now create all your annotation links in this template file and save the file.

Now when you use this file as a Drawing template it should automatically find the attribute names that the Annotation links are looking for and it should behave as expected.

- And, you need not delete the dummy component from the template. It will disappear automaticly when you use the template.
