I'm looking for a meter that is capable of measuring agitation in my acid-stripping tank. I've seen "open-current" meters used for Oceanographic and River monitoring, but I haven't found anything applicable to my need. I may be missing the right keywords, but in essence, I would like a probe I can stick into my tank of agitated acid that will tell me the local fluid velocity in the vicinity of the probe. Does anyone know of such a product?

You might have better luck just modeling the tank using CFD. That being said I think before CFD models they would use radar on large particles seeded into the tank to get the velocities. I have also seen dye tablets dropped into the tanks to estimate the velocities.
Are you just curious about the velocity or are you having problems you think are related to the bulk velocity?

Here is a wild guess.

Pitot tube? You will have to orient it correctly, and assuming the flow is in a single direction all the time and the material is compatible with your acid.
