My company has primarily used API 653 to use as a guide by which its tanks were inspected to.
It appears SP001 is gaining favor and has some advantages for tanks meeting certain criteria. Among the more attractive advantages are (possibly) longer intervals between inspections and in some cases, no internal inspection required.
Is it normal for companies to use API 653 for some tanks and SP001 for others?
