Abaqus: Updating Young's modulus and Element deletion

I'm designing a model in Abaqus to change (degrade) Young's Modulus after a strain value of 0.3 and delete elements after a strain value of 0.5; how do I proceed with that? I'm thinking of applying the USDFLD subroutine. Is this the correct way around? If so, should I make one field variable to change E (after the strain of 0.3), but how do I include the elements deletion part? I'm very new to this; please help.
