Hello!
I am a programmer and somehow i got into a possition where i suddenly need to do simulations in Abaqus at my work. I was never really fond of physics and mathematics so this was something completly new to me
I have started on this possition about a week ago and up till now i have read trough the first book "Getting started with ABAQUS/standard interactive version" i have done a few examples gotten used to the program GUI and .inp files and the basic workflow for simple simulations, i would like to ask for a few pointers from more experienced users.
So here are my questions:
1. Can annyone recommend a good book for basics in materials physics, im mainly interested in metals, bending, heat/preassure stresses. I hope you know what i mean as i dont know these terms
2. I would like to know what is better for computing to use a cloud service or to have a server (example: 2x 8core cpu 64gb RAM 2x quadro cards ) is just the difference in pricing or is cloud usually stronger ? Annyone know the usual monthly or yearly cost of such cloud service ?
3. is there a free or low cost option for at home educational purposes ?
4. i was wondering if it is possible to simulate this :
i have this piece of mettal that gets molten aluminum pressured on it every 30 seconds or so and at some point (lets say after 30 repetitions) the metal piece breaks (cracks) becouse of heat expansion
im pretty shure the above is possible to simulate but i have no idea how to go about this as every tutorial i went trough had only one simulation went trough and that was that ... i was thinging i will have to use phyton and make the program run for a while ?
ok sorry for the long post and losts of grammar mistakes, english is not my main language
thanks for any answears in advance
cheers!
