Abaqus attachment points along edge

I am trying to create attachment points along edges of a shell element in Abaqus, and then assign wires to ground, and assign connector sections to those wires. It seems that this does not work correctly as it does for mesh-independent fasteners. Is there any way to assign wires to ground along edges of a shell? I have even tried to match the location of the attachment points with the mesh nodes, but it seems it does not work either.

Thanks.

I am unable to understand the problem correctly. But are you creating wire edge feature along shell edge? Did you check wire from shell edge feature for which it deletes the surfaces of solid?

Did you make any partition of shell edges for attaching wires to those partition points? Any drawing or model detail like what you want to achieve would be good to suggest you something.

What exactly doesn’t work here ? You can’t create the points or they don’t connect to the shell mesh correctly ?

Which method do you use to create the attachment points ?

Thanks for your reply. And sorry if I was not clear enough before.

I have a shell, and I created a partition on it. Then, I created attachment points using the tool "Create attachment points offset from edges" along the partition. After creating the attachment points, I created "wires to ground" using the attachment points, and I assigned connector properties to these wires. What happens is that whenever I run the model, I do not get any error, but the stiffness of the wires to ground is simply ignored. When I create an individual wire to ground in the corner of a shell (either a true corner or an intersection of two partitions), it does actually work. However, when I create these attachment points using the tool mentioned above, either having spacing different to my mesh size, or having the attachment points in the same location as the mesh nodes, they are simply not recognized. Below is a screenshot of What I am doing. The connectors in the very bottom of the shell were created at the intersection of an edge and partition, and they work. The connectors at the middle of the shell (along a partition) are the ones causing problems.

Thanks for your help!

Why you are not partitioning the edges using "Partition edge tool"? This might solve the problem and you have "true" points at the middle of shell.

Check the output files. Are there any warning messages ?
