AB SLC 5/04 serial port duality

Hello all,

I currently program our AB slc 5/04 with the serial port. I am looking to export some data through the same serial port using the AWA/AWT command within RSlogix. The data would then go into a spreadsheet. Does anyone know how I can use the same serial port for exporting data and programming? Will this even be an issue? (Also I only have RSlinx lite and I am aware that higher versions support DDE and such).
