Hi,
I'm working on a machined bushing, and could use some advice with material choice.
It's round, 0.625 OD, .500" ID, and .062" thick. In the past, we've made the bushing from 841 sintered oil bronze, and experienced significant wear to the bushing which introduced undesirable play into the mechanism. We tried the harder 544 bronze, and experienced squeaking after very little use. That's not going to be an option.
The application prohibits lubrication of virtually any kind. It's essentially a cam action bushing, so it must take oscillating wear, frequent stop/start, fairly heavy frequent side to side impact from the shaft, as well as the normal very moderate front/back pressure (just a couple pounds if that).
What can I expect from the C932 alloy in terms of squeaking without lubrication under that condition?
