I am looking to purchase a 50 Ton truck-mounted crane with a maximum price of approx. €500K ($640K/350GBP).

My question is this: What are the basic things to look out for when purchasing such a crane, and which company would you recommend?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Alan

Find a reputable crane operator and get his advise, offer to pay him for his time. The cost for his time will be minimal compared to what you could potential save or lose.

Consider both the availability and cost of repair parts. You certainly don't want to have extended on the job downtime while you wait for some part (often proprietary) to be located and delivered to your jobsite. Some crane manufactuers use major components such as engines, drive train, etc. that are used in many other applications besides cranes, this often helps solve the parts problem (both availability & price). Talk with long term users of the various crane brands on this subject.
